Will the release of Aung San Suu Kyi actually bring new hope for political dialogue and the end of prolonged and inconclusive political struggle in Burma?

Profile: Khin Ma Ma Myo spent most of her years on Burmese Democratic Movement as a Director of Democratic Federation of Burma, an elected Joint-General Secretary (1) of Free Burma Federation and Director of Strategy and Policy of the National Council of the Union of Myanmar. She has written numerous articles for Burma Digest Journal, Renaissance Journal, Burma Today Journal, Women Rights Journal, Journal of Burmese Studies and various political journals. How is it possible to prevent the representatives from themselves following their interest at the expense of the interests of the community? Do considerations of scale, expertise and knowledge of political matters make representation inevitable in any large-scale political community and does this then open up the danger of a gap between representatives and represented?
