excellent piece....framed the issue perfectly ...as a white guy in the states i think you hit it on the head..most issues evolved from slavery and just physical and cultural differences...as to the "mystique surrounding sex...slaves were bred for physical prowness and obviously a well toned black man would induce white women to compare him to a soft fat white husband and as they were slaves she could order them around and by the same token ..white men would look upon a black woman as property and do the same ...both never having to be responsible as they owned them ...Today.obviously over time culture is lost as the combining of races dilute the cultural influences being taught in family traditions ...is that a good thing ..???...i think so ..because stereotypes will give way to reality eventually ..and new cultural traditions being adopted.....most people want to belong ..feel accepted by their surrounding community ..feel appreciated ..that they are contributing to the betterment of their community...a sense of self worth ..people unfortunately like to make distinctions and comparisons of others to elevate their own sense of self worth ...unfortunately ..human nature being what it ...it takes time and usually a good thump on the head sometimes to wake people up ..!!!

brilliant piece of work. I am very happy to have come across this, as a mixraced person, or as i like to refer to myself a person of dual heritage. i would really love to read more pieces like this one, by the way my older brother although from a different father who is black (nigerian, our mother from barbados), we still refer to him as mixraced because we believe it is a state of mind, and that we were raised not as black or white children but as mixraced ones
